Like the trumpet, saxophone, and tuba, the trombone is both a wind and brass instrument. It extends and contracts. The slide on a trombone enables the player to change his or her pitch in a truly smooth and "stepless" fashion.
In New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, many players play in what are called, "Brass Bands" In addition, artists in New Orleans and around the world have family ties to attribute to the love and skills of the music. Chester is much influenced by listening to the likes of Trombone Shorty and Delfeayo Marsalis.
Chester's take: The instrument has a potential for sound, but it's your informed voice that animates and expresses your truth! This would be an excellent gift for home or office of any wind instrument or brass instrument player.
